What, Why, who, or how, is this Film?

Old Man Aero is a short animation starring two characters (Aero, a grumpy and underappreciated inventor, and Wally, A beaver sidekick who finds the best in everything) As they take a test flight for their latest invention; The “Aero Plane”.

This fast-paced, story-driven chase style short is a blend of Anime and Western style in a tight little story. The purpose is to showcase a wide variety of skills with digital media & directing techniques. This animation will produce a well rounded animation portfolio, from the layouts to the 3-D assets and animation, to the traditional animation as well.

The film production is tied to my class schedule at the Academy of Art University (online), San Francisco, CA. I plan to complete the Project and Present the Finished animation in July 2015. I will be committing all of my time to this projects completion, as I am creation all the art myself. I do however hope to find assistance with the music and sound design. I’ll be receiving critiques from advisors and student peers throughout production, getting multiple opinions is never a bad idea when working on such a daunting task.

This film is a fully digital project, The Layouts were made in Photoshop or animated in TVPaint, The 3-D models were created, rigged, animated, and exported in Maya, The character and effects animation will be drawn and painted in TVPaint, the files will then be composited in After Effects, and Music, sound design, and final editing will be done in Premiere.

Goals

Some of my goals for this Film:
          ·      Be a film that can be enjoyed by a wide audience spectrum

·      Obtain entrant and recognition on the festival circuit

·      Help create a well rounded Demo Reel

·      Create something I can look back on with pride
